Vacheron Constantin – Historiques Cornes de vache 1955
Once in a while a watch takes its name from the state of the lugs but this is the situation of the most recent watch introduced by Vacheron Constantin for its Historiques assortment, the Historiques Cornes de vache 1955.
The new watch, that will be first displayed at the Watches & Wonders 2015 occasion in Hong Kong, is a contemporary translation of Reference 6087, a famous model made by Vacheron Constantin in 1955 which was the principal water-safe and hostile to attractive chronograph introduced by the Geneva manufacturer.
The first reference 6087 model featured a 35 mm-width round case in 18-carat yellow gold and was controlled by the hand-wound Caliber 492, ensured against attraction by a delicate iron pen
The new Historiques Cornes de vache 1955 chronograph, suggests a subtle design pressure among straight and curving lines, made by the conventional round state of the case bested by the unmistakably molded and prolonged cow-horn lugs.
The 38.5 mm x 10.9 mm case is made from platinum and is water impervious to 30 meters. The fastened caseback is fitted with a straightforward sapphire precious stone serving to respect the hand decorated heart, the hand-wound Caliber 1142 pulsating at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations each hour) with a 48-hour power hold.
Like the other new chronograph developments by Vacheron Constantin, the column-wheel screw has the state of the seal of the Manufacture, the Maltese cross.
The silver-conditioned opaline dial – with 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and little seconds at 9 o’clock – is punctuated by Roman numerals, applied hour markers and hands in 18-carat white gold, while the focal seconds hand, the 30-minute counter hand and the tachometric scale feature a regal blue shade which improves lucidness.
The Vacheron Constantin Historiques Cornes de vache 1955 (reference 5000H/000P-B058) bears the Hallmark of Geneva and is completed by a dim blue Mississippiensis crocodile cowhide lash with a platinum 950 buckle. Issued in an exclusive production run (although a non-restricted release), the model will have a cost of around US$ 95,000. vacheron-constantin.com
