Girard-Perregaux – Vintage 1945 Small Second 70th Anniversary
In 1945 Girard-Perregaux designed a watch enlivened by Art Deco standards: math, primary soundness and straightforwardness. The watch highlighted a straightforward construction with a rectangular case reached out by drags, symmetric plan and bended sides joining the crown. The rotation of materials – gold and steel – was common of the Art Deco period.
Fifty years later, in 1995, a re-version of the first model returned in the Girard-Perregaux Museum assortments. Like the first, the 1995 model was described by rectangular points featured by gadroons, stretched horns, bended case totally fitting the wrist and a tactfully coordinated crown.
The “Vintage 1945” model made in 1995
The “Vintage 1945” assortment was conceived. A few model varieties were introduced before long including, in 2004, a Vintage 1945 model incorporating another image of the brand: the Three Gold Bridges.
This year, Girard-Perregaux commends the 70th commemoration of the Vintage 1945 assortment, with the Vintage 1945 Small Second 70th Anniversary edition, an advanced reevaluation of the first model.
The new model, uncovered at Baselworld 2015, highlights a two-conditioned pink gold and steel case (36,20 x 35,25 mm) curved in the two headings to decrease its quality on the wrist while making the fit more ergonomic. The crown coordinated in the center blurs to more readily upgrade the watch profile.
The case back, got by four screws, is silk completed and engraved with the Vintage 1945 commemoration logo.
Like the case, the dial has a doubly-bended shape, an accomplishment that makes the making of this watch exceptionally complex. The hours are set apart by applied Arabic numerals which take the pink gold shade of the bezel.
The dauphine-molded moment and hour hands are faceted and carefully bended by hand to follow the state of the dial whose evenness and equilibrium isn’t influenced at all by the little second sign at 6 o’clock.
The watch is fueled by the GP03300-0051 in-house development with programmed winding. Furnished with a base 46-hour power save, it beats at 28,800 vibrations each hour (4 Hz).
The Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 Small Second 70th Anniversary Edition (ref. 25880-56-111-BBBA) is completed by an earthy colored crocodile tie with collapsing catch and has a retail cost of US$ 13,050. girard-perregaux.com
