F.P.Journe – Tourbillon Souverain Bleu for Only Watch 2015
The extraordinary timepieces made for the Only Watch 2015 Charity Auction (Geneva, 7 November 2015) by 43 top brands have begun to flow and quite possibly the most staggering watch uncovered so far is a special adaptation of the Tourbillon Souverain planned by F.P. Journe for the event.
The Tourbillon Souverain Bleu for Only Watch 2015 is the first tourbillon watch with a case made totally in tantalum, an uncommon dim metal with blue hints. Difficult to manipulate because of its high thickness, tantalum is amazingly impervious to erosion and wear.
The 40 mm case frames an eye-getting blue chrome dial which changes character as indicated by the shade of episode light. The hours and minutes sub-dial at 3 o’clock is symmetric to the tourbillon at 9 o’clock while the 42-hour power-save sign at 12 o’clock outwardly offsets independent seconds display at 6 o’clock.
The in-house F.P. Journe development is made of 18 karat rose gold, and is fitted with a remontoire – a steady force gadget – advanced with an independent seconds framework for a more exact read-off of time. The French expression for “independent seconds”, called “seconde morte” or “miscreant seconds”, refers to the fact that the hand stays still (“dead”) however long the second has not really elapsed. fpjourne.com
